Layoffs in Eagle County

A Reduction in Force in the Eagle County Schools is an unfortunate, but inevitable result of funding discrepancies across the state. The District Negotiations Team, consisting of 1/2 Admin members and 1/2 Eagle County Education Association members, spent many hours working on the RIF policy to reflect our district's performance expectations, value placed on experience of teachers, and the value of allowing decisions to be school based depending on what the needs are at the building and what is best for the children at that site. ECEA expects that many teachers who received a RIF notification will be able to find employment at ECS through an application and interview process before the end of the summer because of our notorious annual turnover rate. In the meantime, members of ECEA who are affected by the RIF will be getting full support from the Association if they have questions, need assistance, or advocacy during this difficult time.
